*Model, prompt and practice using these boards to teach children how to communicate pain. Use language such as sore, ouch, ow, etc. Model “hurting” yourself, e.g., banging your knee and show the child how you use the board to communicate your pain, use it when you see other people hurt themselves, look at videos of people expressing pain and use the board to teach, when students hurt themselves prompt or model use of the board.
